Newsletter 2024
Welcome to our first update of 2024!
The year is off to a thrilling start as we dive into the momentum of the new year. We've been hard at work finalizing our financial year-end for 2023, and I'm delighted to announce that our audit is now complete. Members can look forward to receiving their annual reports in the mail soon.
Annual General Meeting
As a friendly reminder, our Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 26. Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7:00 p.m. If you've never attended an AGM before, this is your chance to stay informed, ask questions, promote transparency and accountability, and vote on important matters affecting the cooperative. This year's AGM will feature significant business discussions and voting, so we strongly encourage all members to attend.
We're also excited to announce that budgets have been set for the 2024 year, with more details to be shared at the AGM. This year marks the second and final year of the fiber construction project in and around the Cottam area. We are immensely grateful to our members for their overwhelming patience and support throughout this project.
In 2023, we laid nearly 67% of the fiber for the entire project and have already upgraded nearly 70% of the homes in that area. In 2024, we are committed to completing the fiber and home upgrades. Construction has already begun along Cameron Sideroad, with locates called for County Rd 14. Permits have been obtained, and this work is set to begin in mid-March. Additionally, permits have been submitted for County Rd 34 E & Road 6W/south Talbot/Division Rd. Work will then progress to County Rd 14, Road 8 E/Road 6E/Road 7E, County Rd 8 W, County Rd 8 E, and finally Countryvillage Apartments.
A Year Of Changes
2024 is also a transition year at Gosfield as we bid a happy retirement to two of our long-serving team members. Sue Webster, with 35 years of service, will have her last day on March 15. Karen Will, with 29 years of service, will have her last day on March 27. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Sue and Karen for their dedicated service over the years. As we say farewell to Sue and Karen, we welcome Felicia Alexander, who will be replacing Sue, and Cyndi MacVittie, who will be replacing Karen. In other employee updates, we bid farewell to Dan Caille, who has accepted a position with the Town of Kingsville Fire Department. We are currently in the process of recruiting to fill this position.
Thank you for your continued support and participation. We look forward to an exciting and productive year ahead!
